The business and purpose of the Ferndale Heritage Society is to educate the community on the history of Whatcom County, promote Pioneer Park and tourism in Ferndale, WA, and bring together those people interested in preserving history and maintaining the log cabins and collections at Pioneer Park.

Old Settlers Weekend

Pioneer Park is the spotlight of this annual community celebration in Ferndale, occurring the last weekend of July.

Ferndale Heritage Society volunteers open the park's historic cabins for public viewing.

The overall event is organized by the Old Settler's Association.

The weekend includes  baseball tournaments, crafts, food vendors, a talent show, musical entertainment, non-profit expo, flower show, car show and beer garden. 2021 special events are a Hot Air balloon glow Saturday evening, and fireworks.

It is the longest continually running annual picnic in the state.
